👑 Who Was Holika?
होलिका कौन थी?
Holika was the sister of the demon king Hiranyakashipu. होलिका राक्षस राजा हिरण्यकश्यप की बहन थी।
Some ancient traditions mention her original name as Simhika. कुछ प्राचीन परंपराओं में उसका असली नाम सिंहिका भी बताया गया है।
She belonged to a powerful asura family and was proud of her strength. वह एक शक्तिशाली असुर परिवार से थी और अपनी शक्ति पर उसे बहुत गर्व था।
But what made her dangerous was not her power — it was her arrogance. लेकिन उसे खतरनाक उसकी शक्ति नहीं, बल्कि उसका अहंकार बनाता था।
🔥 How Did Holika Get Her Boon?
होलिका को वरदान कैसे मिला?
Holika performed severe penance to please Lord Brahma. होलिका ने भगवान ब्रह्मा को प्रसन्न करने के लिए कठोर तपस्या की।
Pleased with her devotion, Lord Brahma granted her a special boon — she would not be harmed by fire. उसकी तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर भगवान ब्रह्मा ने उसे वरदान दिया कि अग्नि उसे नुकसान नहीं पहुंचा सकेगी।
However, the boon had a condition. लेकिन इस वरदान की एक शर्त थी।
The protection would work only if she entered the fire alone. यह वरदान तभी काम करता जब वह अकेले अग्नि में प्रवेश करती।
If she misused it for evil purposes, the boon would fail. यदि वह इसका दुरुपयोग करती, तो वरदान निष्फल हो जाता।

😈 The Evil Plan Against Prahlad
प्रह्लाद के विरुद्ध षड्यंत्र
After many failed attempts to harm Prahlad, Hiranyakashipu became furious. प्रह्लाद को मारने के कई असफल प्रयासों के बाद हिरण्यकश्यप क्रोधित हो उठा।
Prahlad continued chanting the name of Lord Vishnu fearlessly. प्रह्लाद निडर होकर भगवान विष्णु का नाम जपता रहा।
The king ordered Holika to sit in the fire with Prahlad on her lap. राजा ने होलिका को आदेश दिया कि वह प्रह्लाद को गोद में लेकर अग्नि में बैठे।
Holika agreed, believing her boon would protect her. होलिका को विश्वास था कि उसका वरदान उसे बचा लेगा।
🔥 The Night of Holika Dahan
होलिका दहन की रात
A huge pyre was built in the royal courtyard. राजमहल के आंगन में एक विशाल चिता तैयार की गई।
Holika sat confidently in the flames with Prahlad on her lap. होलिका आत्मविश्वास के साथ प्रह्लाद को गोद में लेकर अग्नि में बैठ गई।
Prahlad folded his hands and prayed peacefully, “O Lord Vishnu, I trust you.” प्रह्लाद ने हाथ जोड़कर प्रार्थना की, “हे भगवान विष्णु, मुझे आप पर पूर्ण विश्वास है।”
The fire was lit, and flames rose high into the sky. अग्नि प्रज्वलित हुई और लपटें आसमान तक उठने लगीं।
🌪 The Turning Point

Suddenly, a powerful wind began to blow. अचानक तेज हवा चलने लगी।
Holika’s magical shawl slipped from her shoulders and flew onto Prahlad. होलिका का अग्नि-रोधी वस्त्र उड़कर प्रह्लाद पर आ गया।
The fire began to burn Holika instead. अब वही अग्नि होलिका को जलाने लगी।
Prahlad remained unharmed due to divine protection. ईश्वरीय कृपा से प्रह्लाद सुरक्षित रहा।
When the flames died down, Prahlad walked out safely, while Holika turned to ashes. जब अग्नि शांत हुई, प्रह्लाद सुरक्षित बाहर निकला और होलिका राख बन चुकी थी।
🌸 Why Did Holika’s Boon Fail?
होलिका का वरदान क्यों निष्फल हुआ?
- The boon worked only if she entered fire alone. यह वरदान तभी काम करता जब वह अकेले अग्नि में जाती।
- She misused divine blessings for evil. उसने दिव्य वरदान का दुरुपयोग किया।
